COVID paused the market momentarily during early shutdowns in March - May 2020. The lockdowns then backfired into a tsunami of housing activity that summer and continued all thru 2021 and into mid-2022 with property values increasing rapidly. Record low mortgage interest rates contributed to the feeding frenzy and subsequently cooled the market when increasing mortgage rates first hit 4.0% (Feb 2022) and reached their peak of 7.32% in (Oct 2022). Mortgage rates have been relatively stable for the last 7 weeks hovering near 6.0-6.50%.
